Instrument Concepts is a design engineering company, helping users of ocean based sensors from our head office in Nova Scotia, Canada. Users are based mainly in environmental monitoring, marine engineering, oceanography and offshore energy operations. Our instruments are used in nearly every ocean in the world.

Instrument Concepts was founded in 1998 by Mark Wood, to develop an innovative, flexible and personal approach to solving sensing needs. We aim to meet clients’ unique measurement goals and build in flexibility to meet current and future needs.

Users were looking for an easier way to get reliable accurate data from their instruments without spending a lot of money, or a lot of time learning how to use them. They wanted instruments that just gave the data they need. This led to the development of the icListen family of instruments.

Custom design services cover the full scope of today’s acoustic and magnetic sensor-based measurement environment, integrating different technologies, to create solutions that respond to clients’ measurement challenges.
