Mark Wood

Mark Wood has been designing, creating and using electronic measuring instruments for two decades. He loves his work thanks to the new and exciting ways that people are finding to use sensors.

"I founded Instrument Concepts because it seemed that many companies making sensor-based measurements were looking outside for help in getting the best possible results", says Mark, "These companies can now leverage our specialized capabilities and experience to complement their own areas of expertise".

Mark, an electrical engineer, has a masters degree in control and instrumentation. He has published papers on digital signal processing, and was co-inventor of a novel type of digital filter.

"Designing with sensors is not difficult" notes Mark, "The challenge is in really understanding the sensing needs, then creating a solution that works under all conditions and integrates naturally into the user's environment".

Mark has lived and worked in England, Switzerland, USA and Canada. He has designed many interesting measurement applications, including environmental air quality sensing, critical health care monitoring, underwater positioning, geophysical sensing and laboratory research measuring. While in Switzerland, he helped develop the first commercial pulse oximeter in Europe.
